Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) has reaffirmed its commitment to social responsibility by renewing its partnership with the Hanns Seidel Foundation Namibia (HSF), solidifying their joint efforts to drive sustainable and impactful community projects. The renewed collaboration will focus on enhancing climate-smart agriculture, promoting water conservation, and bolstering community education, all under the umbrella of NBL’s “Brew a Better World 2030 Strategy.”

This partnership, which has already demonstrated tangible results, will see both organizations continue to prioritise initiatives that address pressing environmental and social challenges. Franklin Angermund, NBL’s Public Affairs and Sustainability Manager, emphasized the company’s dedication to making a positive difference in the communities it serves. “We are thrilled to renew our partnership with the Hanns Seidel Foundation Namibia. This collaboration aligns with our commitment to making a positive impact in our communities and contributing to sustainable development,” he stated.

A key focus of the renewed partnership is the expansion of aquaponics systems for Educational Institutions at three strategic sites: Henties Bay Sam Nujoma Campus, the Arid Eden Project, and the Outapi DAPP Vocational Training Center. This initiative aims to enhance knowledge and skills in climate-smart agriculture, improving food security while significantly reducing water usage compared to traditional farming methods.

NBL has pledged N$190,092 for 2024, with a further commitment of N$570,000 over the next three years, ensuring the project’s long-term sustainability and growth. The project’s objectives include substantial water reduction, increased food production, active community engagement, and the delivery of comprehensive educational workshops and training materials.

The aquaponics project has already shown promising results, demonstrating the viability of sustainable agricultural practices in Namibia’s challenging environment. Community involvement has been pivotal to its success, with revised training materials and nationwide educational workshops planned to further empower local communities.

This renewed partnership between NBL and HSF underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in driving sustainable development and creating lasting positive impacts in Namibian communities. It exemplifies how businesses and non-profit organizations can work together to address pressing environmental and social issues, fostering a more sustainable and prosperous future.
