Okakarara farmers, battered by persistent drought, have received a much-needed lifeline in the form of six mini hammermills. The Okakarara Farmers Association (OKAFA) has deployed these machines to various villages in the constituency, aiming to boost livestock fodder production.

Livestock farming, primarily cattle, goats, and sheep, is the economic backbone of many households in the region. However, the relentless drought has severely impacted agricultural activities, leaving farmers struggling to sustain their livelihoods.

The initiative, funded by the Marine Diamond Mining company (Debmarine) through its Namibia Social Investment Fund, provides not only the hammermills but also storage facilities. This strategic placement ensures easy access for farmers in six key villages: Okahitua, Okahua, Okayepe, Orrui, Orupe 2, and Okarui Okape.

By empowering farmers with these tools, OKAFA hopes to mitigate the impact of the drought and bolster the local economy. This timely intervention underscores the importance of community-driven initiatives in addressing pressing agricultural challenges
